New Honorary Fellows for ICME

Two new Honorary Fellowships have been awarded by ICME and will be celebrated at the forthcoming Awards Luncheon.

Dr Peter Beeley Hon FICME has been a member of the Institute since 1955 and many of the Members will know Peter as the author of the well-known textbook - Foundry Technology. Peter was born in Sheffield and graduated in Metallurgy at the university. Following work at David Brown and Sons Ltd and Hadfields Ltd he was then foundry manager with Sheepbridge Alloy Castings Ltd. At the University of Leeds he undertook research and published foundry textbooks, and was then Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. He became a Life Fellow of the University in 1988 and was the first recipient of the Voya Kondic Medal for his contribution to foundry education.

Trevor Yates Hon FICME began his career in the foundry industry in 1966 working for Castings Ltd. He joined J&J Siddons Ltd in 1988 as Foundry Manager and then become Works Manager overseeing all aspects of the Siddons Foundry Group. He continues to be an active member of the West Midlands & Coventry Branch of ICME having joined as a student in 1970 - he has been a Branch President, Secretary and Treasurer at different times and now as Branch Social Secretary he takes the lead in organising the annual branch banquet and is a Trustee of the Tor Lodge and Applecross Trust.
