Lancashire Branch

Monday, 11 September 2017

The first meeting of the 2017/18 was held at Weir Minerals Foundry, Todmorden, and was presented by Branch President Lee Jenkins.
The talk related to sharing best practice with the seven other Weir Foundries, which operate on a global basis.

The geography of these sister companies are positioned in Brazil, Chile in South America, Todmorden in England, South Africa as well as Australia.
Lee explained that historically through acquisition, some of these foundries have duplication with regard to product ranges, material specifications, as well as plant and equipment. With the aid of video, and slide presentations, he outlined the methods of sharing best practice, as well as the benefits achieved from a financial, H&S, environmental, and production viewpoint.

The meeting was well supported, with an abundance of questions being answered throughout the talk.

The president was thanked for his excellent presentation, and for providing the venue and generous buffet.
