Production Manager, Sussex UK

From our advanced manufacturing site in Littlehampton, Sussex our committed team of 80 people supports globally Motorsport, Automotive OEM’s and Defence customers with cutting edge design and prototype components manufacture.

To support our business expansion, we have an exciting new role for an experienced Production Manager. This role would suit someone with proven industry experience and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Role Description:
You will be directly responsible for co-ordinating and managing production throughout in house CAD, Pattern Shop, Foundry and Machine Shop manufacturing processes and subcontract operations.

Inputting new orders on our MRP system, contract reviews and raising accurate work instructions for each manufacturing process.

Communicate effectively production planning and turnover targets to managers and supervisors throughout the business. As we prototype manufacture this will involve daily meetings to co-ordinate production.

Be the main point of contact for customers and communicate with them to understand fully their requirements and provide real time updates whilst in production.

Using the MRP system, monitor and publish production performance KPI’s for each of our business areas, supplier and overall customer delivery performance.
Oversee that all manufacture times for each production process are recorded and evaluated against costings.

Manage working hours in line with production levels to ensure delivery and cost requirements are achieved for each order.

Work with quality and engineering team to drive continuous improvement across our business. This includes implementing and maintaining LEAN and Kaizen methodologies to improve overall production output.

Degree qualified or HND educated within an engineering or manufacturing discipline.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
You must have a proven experience managing and successfully increasing production in a low volume manufacturing environment. As our Company continues to expand above £7 million annual turnover, you will be ability to simultaneous manage multiply projects in a growing business.

You will have strong leadership skills to communicate and manage production across our business with department managers and supervisors to ensure targets are achieved.
Have the ability to professionally communicate and build relationships with our customers and understand their business requirements and expectations.

Competent knowledge operating MRP systems and Microsoft Office.

You will be able to read 2D engineering drawings and view 3D models using 3D software. For this position, it is essential that you have experience contracting reviewing technical documents.

You will be able to demonstrate proven experience implemented improvement techniques to effectively increase production and improve costs.

Experience of the casting and machining process is highly desirable
